Haskell Rosenthal

Haskell was born in Houston, Texas on April 19, 1936 to David and Esther Rosenthal. He graduated from the University of Houston with an accounting degree and had a career filled with public service and a commitment to education. He helped the IRS start its Taxpayer Services Program, taught high school reading, served as a captain in the Army Reserves, worked at Weiners Stores, and published four children’s books: The Little Dreidel that Ran Away, Flutter, Lilly’s Trip to the Lands of Adventure, and Spots and Sparky.

Haskell married Judith-Ann Saks in 1974, and they were blessed with a child Brian in 1978. Haskell and Judy were both long-time members of Congregation Beth Israel. He was known for his deep compassion and empathy, his beautiful singing voice, and his love of Judaism.
